Background/Discussion
The Mayor requested the length of the fireworks display for the Elk RiverFest on Saturday, July 3fd be discussed
by City Council. The School District has confirmed the new shotting site located between Salk Middle School and
the old high school football stadium. This new location allows for a maximum shell size of 6 inches. Past displays
have been a maximum of 5-inch shells.
The 2020 fireworks display was 19 minutes with 5-inch shells for $16,500. We can do a similar display this year.
The display will only be two minutes less if we want to add 6-inch shells. We will notice a difference with 6-inch
shells that will shoot over 200-feet higher. If we want to keep to a 19-minute show with 6-inch shells, the cost will
be $700 more.
Financial Impact
The budget for the 2021 fireworks display is $16,500.
