DISCUSSION:
• In the last 30 days, the level two charger located downtown had 17 sessions and
provided customers with 320 kWh of green energy. The DC fast charger at the Coborn’s
fuel station had 20 sessions and provided 210 kWh. The charger in the ERMU/City Hall
parking lot had 3 sessions and provided customers with 32 kWh. There was a total of 40
charging sessions and 562 kWh of energy provided over the last 30 days.
• The Elk River landfill-gas-to-energy facility is currently operating with a retrofitted
blower motor for the Smog Hog; delivery of a new blower motor fan assembly is
expected within the next few weeks.
• Staff recently sent out certificates to acknowledge customers that participated in the
Clean Energy Choice program in 2020. The certificate contained the total additional
renewable energy purchased and then calculated the environmental equivalents of the
CO2 savings. In addition to the certificate, participants received a thank you letter and
window decal that can be used to proudly display their participation in the program.
ERMU’s participation purchased an additional 1,782,446 kWh of renewable energy that
reduced emissions equivalent to driving 353,900 miles, or burning 1,570,722 lbs. of coal,
or planting 23,770 trees. Attached is a copy of the certificate and letter.
• Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) has proposed a spending cap of .5%
of gross operating revenue that could be used by municipal utilities for strategic
electrification (load building). The proposed change was included to help overcome
challenges from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, specifically the delivered fuels
lobby groups.
• Staff provided an in-person tour of the landfill gas plant generation facility on April 20.
The participants were part of the MMUA Generator School. This was the first in person
tour since the emergence of COVID-19.

• Staff presented at the Annual Data Center Summit with Minnesota Municipal Power
Agency (MMPA) and the City of Elk River Economic Development. MMPA was a great
addition to the speaker panel and the presentation was well received by the virtual
participants.
