1. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee
was called to order at 10:07 a.m.
Introductions: the committee introduced themselves as there is one new member.
2. Consider Agenda
Motion by Rhonda and seconded by Ryan to approve the agenda. Motion carried 5-
0.
3.0 Consent Agenda
Motion by Ashley and seconded by Ryan to approve the consent agenda. Motion
carried 5-0.
4.1 Potential Businesses and Marketing Plan
Colleen presented the staff report. Chair Hardin facilitated the discussion. Chris updated the
committee on the information that the planning and building departments can provide.
Colleen will send the committee a report once a month with businesses that have pulled
permits for exterior and interior improvements. Colleen will send the group a copy of the
application and the link to the online fillable form. As Melissa was not in attendance the
marketing discussion will take place at the next meeting.

Background/Discussion
The City of Elk River Beautification Program started May 1 and runs until October 2021. The program
seeks to recognize commercial/industrial site improvements, commercial/industrial upgrades, landscapes,
renovations, restorations, and new structures that are architecturally noteworthy.
At the May 10th Beautification Committee meeting, the committee discussed compiling a list of businesses
who have completed projects that might qualify for the beautification award. One report that the group
referenced and would like to see is the businesses who have pulled building permits in 2020 and YTD
2021.
Staff is looking for direction from the committee on ways to utilize this information along with the
proposed beautification branding.
