Award, by motion, the purchase and installation of a dock at Rivers Edge Commons Park for $125,704.00
and $10,000.00 to install a concrete/transition path.
Background/Discussion
City Council recently discussed moving forward with the Rivers Edge Commons Park dock. Concepts were
approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission on August 12, 2020, and by the Council in September of
2020.
Resident Boat and Dock Enthusiast Shannon Tatro and Michael Hecker met with Chris Carlson of Envision
Company/ERX to express gratitude for his financial commitment to install the dock. The Carlson Family
Lightshield Foundation will donate $57,500 toward the dock which was a commitment made last summer
covering 50% of the 2020 dock quote. The city will pay the balance of $68,204.
It is possible the dock could be installed the end of August/early September. Staff is recommending installing
the ADA access and gangways later this year with the floating in 2020 or 2021, depending on delivery and
timing. We can bring this to City Council for a final decision once we know exact timing.
Financial Impact
The product cost, site preparation and installation are $125,704. This quote is good until August 2021.
The city will pay $125,704 for the dock and the $10,000 transition path both funded from the GRE Fund.
The cost to install and remove the dock annually is $4,800, which will come from the park operating
budget.
