Background/Discussion In 2020, Council approved increasing the number of paid-on-call firefighters from 45 to 60 to ensure adequate staffing with the addition of Fire Station #3. Financial Impact N/A Mission/Policy/Goal To maintain adequate staffing of the fire department to effectively respond to the needs of the community. Updated: August 2020 City of Elk River City Council Resolution 21-____ A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Acknowledging the Increase of Paid-on Call Staffing for the Fire Department WHEREAS, The Elk River Fire Department has expanded with the building of a third fire station, and WHEREAS, the City of Elk River agrees that the need for additional paid-on call staffing is needed, and WHEREAS, the paid-on call staffing will be increased from 45 members to 60 members for the Elk River Fire Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River, Minnesota, as follows: that the maximum authorized on-call firefighter staffing level for the Fire Department is hereby set at 60. th Passed and adopted this 6 day of July 2021.
