Discuss a new playground and disc golf re-design layout for Lion John Weicht Park for 2022.
Background/Discussion
Staff has been working with Landscape Structures on a new Ninja-style playground design for Lion John
Weicht Park. We would also like the Commission to consider an additional small playground for younger
children.
Staff has been working with disc golf designer Tim Mackey for a new 12-hole layout at Lion John Weicht Park.
Tim has designed may disc golf courses in our region. He will attend the work session to present and answer
any questions.
Financial Impact
The Ninja Playground design and installation is budgeted at $250,000. An adjacent playground for smaller
children will cost about $50,000. A disc golf re-design project is about $23,500 including design services.
All of these items can be funded from the Park Improvement Fund and the small playground can be
funded through the Park Dedication Fund.
