Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Billy Hunter to the position of Assistant Facility Supervisor effective
September 8, 2021.
Background/Discussion
The staffing plan for the Furniture and Things Community Event Center includes two Assistant Facility
Supervisors. Megan Leeseberg holds one of those positions. When we went to market and interviewed for the
Recreation Sports Coordinator position, we found a candidate that is suited well for the other Assistant Facility
Supervisor position. Following a second interview, a discussion regarding the Assistant Facility Supervisor
position, background and reference checks, staff recommends Billy Hunter for this position.
Mr. Hunter holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He has worked as a recreation assistant for the City
of Brookings, SD, and as a recreation/sports coordinator for kids at the Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks,
Alaska. Most recently Mr. Hunter has been the operations assistant and equipment manager for the Sioux Falls
Skyforce, a minor league NBA basketball affiliate of the Miami Heat.
Mr. Hunter will begin at step A for this position. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
