6.1j ERMUSR 08-10-2021______________________________________________________________________________ Page 1 of 1 UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: ERMU Commission FROM: Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent MEETING DATE: August 10, 2021 AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: 6.1j SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: •Delivered 15 new water meters. •Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop ties from 14 water services. •Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH •Completed 21 routine fluoride samples o All samples met MDH standards. o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report •Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). •Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. •There was a water main leak reported on Simonet Drive on Friday, July 16. Burshville Construction excavated and replaced the water main fitting that was leaking. Staff believes this leak was likely caused by wear and tear. •Staff has started testing residential backflow prevention devices. The newly created appointment process is going well. •Bids for water main relocation work for the Highway 169 Redefine project are due by August 19. •Water department staff have done numerous scheduled water main shutdowns for connection of new water mains in the Elk Ridge Estates and Reserve at Woodland Hills developments. •The annual leak detection survey has been completed. The water operators will continue to fix fire hydrants that were identified as needing repair during the flushing and the leak detection survey.
