Subject: July 2005 Home Sales Statistics
Attachments: July 2005 - 13 County.xls; July 2005 - Sherburne.xls
Dear Ms. McPherson,
Attached please find the most recent home sales statistics for Sherburne County and the 13-County metro area.
Twin Cities' suburbs took the lead in closed home sales last month. While the entire 13-County metro area
showed a decrease in sales, down 4% from July 2004, the suburban counties showed moderate increases.
Sherburne County recorded 206 closed sales during July 2005, a 9.6% increase over last year. Anoka County
did not see a similar jump, but did nearly maintain the record level of closed sales seen in July 2004. Closed
sales in the county decreased 1.4% to 631.
"Many people are finding the suburbs more affordable than the metropolitan areas," said Pam Westlund,
President of the North Metro REAL TORS@ Association. "Consumers want to spend less, and they are finding
they can get more for their money in the outer ring of the Twin Cities."
Median sale prices throughout the Twin Cities continued to increase, with the 13-County metro area median price
reaching $233,300 - a 6.3% increase from last year. Median sale prices in the North Metro also increased, up
4.7% in Anoka County to $225,000, and up 11.4% in Sherburne County to $219,400.
Housing statistics include existing single-family homes, condominiums, and town homes. Statistics are provided
by the North Metro REAL TORS@ Association and are based on closed existing home sales as reported by the
Regional Multiple Listing Service.
Please contact me if you have questions or would like more information on home sales statistics in the real estate
industry.
Sincerely,
Julia Parenteau
Director of Public Policy
