I. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Board of
Adjustments was called to order at 6:36 p.m. by Acting Chair Thiel.
2. Consider February 23, 2021, Board of Adjustments Agenda
Moved by Commissioner Beise and seconded by Commissioner Feinstein to
approve the January 26, 2021, Board of Adjustments agenda.
Motion carried 5-0.
3. Consider January 26, 2021, Board of Adjustments Minutes
Moved by Commissioner Jordan and seconded by Commissioner Beise to
approve the January 26, 2021, Board of Adjustments minutes.
Motion carried 5-0.
4.1 Wold Architects & Engineers for ISD #728- 948 Proctor Ave. NW,
11970 Highland Rd. NW, and 900 School St. NW, Case No. V 21-01

Acting Chair Thiel opened the public hearing.

There being no one present to speak, Acting Chair Thiel closed the public hearing.
Moved by Commissioner Beise and seconded by Commissioner Feinstein to
approve the accessory structure height and quantity variances, and the sign
quantity and dimension variances as noted below, for the following reasons:
1. The general purpose and intent of the ordinance are met.
2. The property has a land use of Residential and the uses are
consistent with the Comprehensive Plan.
3. The proposed uses are reasonable and are permitted in the zoning
ordinance.
4. The plight of the petitioner is due to circumstances unique to the
property not a consequence of the petitioner's own action or inaction.
5. The variance will not alter the essential character of the locality.
Four accessory structures, one press box, two team rooms/storage and one
ticketing/concession, for a total of 9,545 square feet:

Schools, in residentially zoned areas, are allowed one freestanding sign and
one wall sign not to exceed 96 square feet in total sign area. Where a zoning
lot has more than 1,000 linear feet of combined street frontage, the total sign
area shall not exceed 192 square feet with no more than 96 square feet per
sign. This zoning lot qualifies for the additional square footage.
Freestanding signage shall not exceed 20 feet in height. The applicant is
requesting five signs totaling 301 square feet.

Motion carried 6-0.
Any appeals to this variance approval need to be turned in by March 5, 2021, to be
reviewed at the Monday, March 15, 2021, City Council meeting.
5. Adjournment
There being no further business, Acting Chair Thiel adjourned the meeting of the
Elk River Board of Adjustments at 6:45 p.m.
