Recommend, by motion, the flagpole donation be installed at the Youth Athletic Complex (YAC).
Background/Discussion
As requested by the Mayor, the Commission discussed August 11 a park location for a flagpole donation. The
flag runners raised $4,400.00 for a flagpole and solar light to be installed in an Elk River Park.
It was first suggested a flagpole location behind left field at the Dave Anderson Athletic Complex near field
one. After further discussion, consensus was the Youth Athletic Complex (YAC) as the preferred location for a
flagpole. Staff agrees with this recommendation for location and cost purposes.
Financial Impact
The flag runners will donate $4,400.00 to the City for a flagpole to be installed by park maintenance staff.
The flagpole will be similar in size to the one at Lion John Weicht Park.
YAC is the best option. We should be able to install both the flagpole and a light with the donation.
