DISCUSSION:
Inserts for the September billings include a promotional flyer for automatic bill payment
and notice of the Cold Weather Rule updates. Attached are copies of the bill inserts.
August and September social media posts will feature a variety of topics including: room
for energy savings in your laundry room, simple steps to saving energy, water
conservation rebates, National Drive Electric Week, and details on our local EV-ER:
Electric Vehicles in Elk River event that ERMU and the City of Elk River will be hosting.
Staff will also be posting public service announcements such as dates of upcoming
commission meetings, holiday business closures, and trash pickup delays.
The communications department is continually evaluating our social media
communications and looking for ways to improve upon it. One strategy that was
implemented this year was the increased use of short video clips versus images. These
quick 10 second videos are designed to grab the attention of the audience and appeal to
social media platform algorithms, which favor moving images. As part of our Adobe
membership, we have access to templates and stock videos that can be customized in
house for this purpose; this cost-effective option is also a huge time saver. We invite you
to follow us on social media to see firsthand how we connect with our customers and
our community.
As part of our records management program, efforts are being made to transition to
paperless/electronic records. As part of the process, staff has been working to ensure
that our permanent records (such as commission packets and meeting minutes) have
been scanned and saved electronically prior to destruction.
