ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING
December 16, 1893
The supervisors met this day as per adjournment, at the Sheriff’s office at court house. Present: Dr.
R. Houlton, Chairman; B.F. Plummer, John Blocher.
This being the time and place for the hearing on the road petition signed by D.R. Houlton and
others and marked Exhibit “A” for a new road as set forth in said petition, and it appearing to the
Board by Affidavit of E.E. Bryant that he had three copies of the notice of hearing on each of the
occupants of the land through which said road may run, at least two days prior hereto, and in further
appearing to the Board by affidavit of said E.E. Bryant that he had posted copies of said notice in
three public places of said town at least two days prior hereto, the Board proceeded to view the line
proposed for said new road.
No one appearing to offer objection to the laying out of said road, and it appearing to the Board to
be necessary and proper the same should be laid out, located and established on motion it was voted
that the prayer of the petition be granted, and that a public road four rods in width be laid out,
located and established accordingly. A survey was ordered made by J.H. Williams, surveyor.
This being also the time and place set for the hearing on the road petition signed by D.R. Houlton
and others and marked Exhibit “B” for a new road as set forth in said petition and if appearing is
the Board that all of the land through which the said road would run is vacant and unoccupied and if
further appearing to the Board by affidavit of E.E. Bryant that he had posted copies of said notice in
three public places in said town at least two days prior hereto, the Board proceeded to view the line
proposed for said new road.
No one appearing to offer objection to the laying out of said road, and it appearing to the Board to
be necessary and proper that the same should be laid out. So called and established in motion it was
voted that the prayer of the petition be granted and that a public road four rods in width be laid out
so called and established accordingly. A survey was ordered made by J.H. Williams, surveyor.
On motion adjourned. A true record.
