AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 218.40 OF THE CITY
ORDINANCES REGARDING HOLIDAYS
The City Council of the City of Elk River does ordain as follows~
Seci~an__1_ That Section 218.40 of the City of Elk River Code of

218.40 - ~al~da~s_ The following legal holidays will be
observed as paid holidays for regular City employees except. as
hereinafter modified or ~ualified: New Year's Day, January 1;
Martin Luther King's Birt.hday, t.he t.hird Mondav in January;
Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays, t.he third Monday in
February; Memorial Day, the last Mondav in Mav; Independence Day,
July 4; Labor Day, t.he first Monday in Sept.ember; Veterans Day,
November 11; Thanksgiving Day, t.he fourth Thursday in November
and the day immediately thereafter; and Christmas Day and the day
before, December 24 and 25; provided, when New Year's Day,
January l;or Independence Day, July 4; or Veterans Day, November
11; or Christmas Day, December 25; falls on Sunday, the following
day shall be a holiday; and provided, when New Year's Day,
January 1; or Independence Day, July 4; or Veterans Day, November
11; Dr Christmas Day, December 25; falls on Saturday, the
preceding day shall be a holiday.

Seciian__2_ That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after the date of its publication.
