Action Requested
Discussion of park pavilion, shelter, and facility fees for 2022.
Background/Discussion
The Commission recommended fees for the current pavilions and shelters at the February 10, 2021, meeting.
With requests already being made for the new picnic pavilion next year at Lion John Weicht Park, Woodland
Trails and Orono Park, staff reviewed our current fee structure and has made recommendations for 2022.
We reviewed what worked well and compared the regional market on similar park shelters. We made a few
adjustments to the current fee schedule changing the fees to a 2-hour minimum instead of a 6-hour block and
included the new Orono Park pavilion.
We have also reviewed the Trott Brook Barn rates that have not been updated in nearly 20 years. The major
change to the Barn’s fee structure was with nonprofit groups. Some have a history of cancelling and requesting
numerous reservations. We felt they should be charged the same rate as resident/non-resident (instead of free)
and promote the Furniture and Things Community Event Center meeting spaces for organizations who
consistently need space monthly. We want to avoid competing with our own facilities.
Financial Impact
Potential Fee increases and deposits should protest our park assets for 2022.
