Health Insurance Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve a continued 85% employer contribution to HSA deductible funding amounts.
BACKGROUND:
Last year ERMU changed health insurance plans, and moved to 85% employer contribution of
premiums, and the employer funding 85% of deductibles. Annually, the commission was to
review the health savings account contribution funding.
DISCUSSION:
Our current plan renewal is a 7.2% increase, for a family premium of $315, and the same
deductibles of $2,500 for single and $5,000 for family. As the deductibles have not changed, the
Wage and Benefits Committee recommends maintaining the same 85% contribution to the
deductibles. For reference, this is $2,125 for single and $4,250 for family.
