6.1g ERMUSR 11-09-2021UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO:FROM: ERMU Commission Thomas Geiser – Operations Director MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: November 9th, 2021 6.1g SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: Staff continues to meet with T2 Utility Engineers, WSB Engineering, and MnDOT for the upcoming Highway 169 Redefine project. Permits have been approved and we are in full constructionmode. We are working with Great River Energy, asthey have ninepoles along the highwaythat need tobemoved or replaced and we have threephase overhead lines attached to them. All underground lines are installed and energized at thrd and 193Avenues. Crews will tear down overhead infrastructureasneeded this 197 fall. We are also currently working at the School and Main Street intersections. We will have to replace 700 feet of 500 MCM underground line along the ramp that brings Highway 10 westbound traffic northbound on Highway 169. th On October 20, during a high wind event, a tree located north of 196Lane fellonto ERMU overhead lines that run along County Road 1. The tree downed the three phase line, snapping a pole in half and affecting service for 404 customers at 3:10 p.m. With some careful switching we were able to get 321customers back in powerwithin the hour. Among those remaining out of power, 54 came back on after replacing the pole and energizing the line at 8:20 p.m. The remaining 29 customers were still out of power due to an underground primary failure that occurred during the initial outage event. After locating the fault, crews were able to get the remaining customers back in power by 5:00 a.m. on October 21. Crews have since replaced the underground primary wire. Staff is working on thewire portion of the electric budget, looking at the quantities needed for the developments and projects that are known to be taking place in 2022. We have been meeting with staff from Sherburne County to planthe work that needs to be done forCounty Road 33 and County Road 44 projects. Working with New Look Contracting, Inc. andSherburne County on lowering and insulating water main for the County Road 13 reconstructionproject. ______________________________________________________________________________ Page 1 of 2 113 All the streetlights that were removed for the Highway 10 rehabilitation project have been reinstalled. The next step will be to wire and energize them.
