Members Absent: Rhonda Magnussen, Ashley Welsh, and Chris Leeseberg

1. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee
was called to order at 10:04 a.m.
Introductions: the committee introduced themselves as there is one new member.
2. Consider Agenda
Motion by Ann and seconded by Melissa to approve the agenda. Motion carried 4-0.
3.0 Consent Agenda
Motion by Melissa and seconded by Ann to approve the consent agenda. Motion
carried 4-0.
4.1 Potential Businesses and Marketing Plan
Colleen presented the staff report. Melissa presented the branding flyer she created. The
group discussed the permit list and distribution of the flyer and other promotion.
5.1 Announcements
Ann introduced Deb Hjermstad, who will be applying to take Ann’s place and full fill the
Master Gardner role on the committee.
6. Adjournment
Motion by Ann and seconded by Melissa to adjourn the meeting at 10:29 a.m. Motion
carried 4-0.

Review the EDA City Beautification Award application and provide a recommendation to the EDA.
Background/Discussion
The City of Elk River Beautification Committee seeks to recognize commercial/industrial site
improvements, commercial/industrial upgrades, landscapes, renovations, restorations, and new structures
that are architecturally noteworthy.
A major criterion is how the project visually enhances the surrounding neighborhood and community.
How the business incorporates design, maintenance, color, organization and creativity within the existing
community. Improvements to structures, interior/exterior spaces and the landscaping are important
elements for consideration.
Aegir Brewing Co., turned a warehouse that was being used for electrical and roofing storage and turned
it into a taproom highlighting with work from local artists and custom woodworkers.
