Requesting Council approval to initiate a fund-raising campaign for a law enforcement monument to be placed at
the entrance to the police department.
Background/Discussion
The police department would like to commission a public art item for a law enforcement monument.
The city has no past practice for considering, designing, or funding such a monument.
Staff is looking for direction.
Is the Council:
1) Comfortable with funding such a project with tax dollars?
2) Comfortable utilizing a self-funding campaign with donations?
3) Comfortable utilizing staff time to market, campaign and manage the project?
4) Comfortable with similar requests for other departments, divisions, or facilities?
