Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Tim Gallagher for the position of park maintenance worker effective December
13, 2021.
Background/Discussion
A park maintenance worker was terminated at the November 15, 2021, council meeting. We had recently collected
applications for this position and were able to move forward with one of these candidates to fill this vacancy.
Following background check and reference calls we recommend Tim Gallagher for this position.
Mr. Gallagher has been working mainly in the golf course industry since 1996. In January of this year, he began
working for the City of Johnston, Iowa Park Department and found his passion. Desiring to move closer to
family, he applied for our position. Mr. Gallagher holds a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture and a pesticide
applicator’s license.
This is a IUOE Local No. 49 position, and all pay and benefits will be consistent with union contract and city
policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
