73-000 ORD COUNCIL SALARIES(1973)
ORDINANCE CHANGING COUNCIL SALARIES
WHEREAS, MInnesota Stats.412.181 authorizes the village council
to increase the salaries of the mayor and councilmen by ordinance subject
to the right of the voters to petition for a referendum on the ordinance
within a period of 30 days after publication of the ordinance;
AND 'iJHEREAS, the council deems the present salary of the mayor and
councilmen inadequate to compensate them for the work incident to these
offices and to attract qualified candidates to run for such offices;
THE COUNCIL OE THE VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER ORDAINS:
Section 1, Commencing January 1, 1974 the salary of the m~or is fixed
at $750.00 per year and the salary of each councilman is fixed at $600.00
per year. \
Section 2, Subject to the referendum provisions of Minnesota Statutes Sec.
412.181, this ordinance is effective from and after its passage and publication.
Adopted by the village council of Elk River this 17th d~ of December 1973.

from its known office of publication within the village from which it purports
to be issued as above stated and in newspaper format and in column and
sbseet form equivalent in space to at least 450 running inches of single
column, two inches wide: has been issu~ once each week from a known
office established in said place of publication and employing skilled workmen
and the necessary material for preparing and printing the same; that. the
press work on that part of the newspaper devoted to local news of interest
to the community it purports to serve has been d011e in its known office of
publication: that during all said time in its m.a:k1eup not less than twenty-five
per cent of its news columns have been devoted to local news of interest to
the community it purports to serve; that during all said time it has not
wholly duplicated any other publication, and has not been entirely made up
of patents, plate matter and advertisements; has been circulated in and
near its said place of publication to the extent of at least two hundred and
forty (240) copies regularly delivered to payinK subscribers and has entry
as second class matter in its local POst office; that there has been on file
in the office of the County Auditor of Sherburne County, Minnesota, the
affidavit of a person having knowledge of the facts, showing the name and
location of said newspaper and the existence of the conditions constituting its
qua.lifications as a legal newspaper; and that a copy of each issue has been
filed with the State Historical Society.
