73-000 ORD COUNCIL SALARIES(1973) ORDINANCE CHANGING COUNCIL SALARIES WHEREAS, MInnesota Stats.412.181 authorizes the village council to increase the salaries of the mayor and councilmen by ordinance subject to the right of the voters to petition for a referendum on the ordinance within a period of 30 days after publication of the ordinance; AND 'iJHEREAS, the council deems the present salary of the mayor and councilmen inadequate to compensate them for the work incident to these offices and to attract qualified candidates to run for such offices; THE COUNCIL OE THE VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER ORDAINS: Section 1, Commencing January 1, 1974 the salary of the m~or is fixed at $750.00 per year and the salary of each councilman is fixed at $600.00 per year. \ Section 2, Subject to the referendum provisions of Minnesota Statutes Sec. 412.181, this ordinance is effective from and after its passage and publication.
