City of Elk River
An Ordinance Establishing New Ward Boundaries,
of the City of Elk River, Minnesota, City Code
The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. City Ward Boundaries
The City of Elk River shall be composed of, and hereby is divided into four wards, and may be
further divided into precincts as approved by resolution of the City Council, for purposes of all
elections conducted within the City of Elk River shown on the attached map and described below:
a. Ward 1
All that property within the corporate limits of the City lying within the following described
boundary:
Beginning at the intersection of the Zebulon Street alignment (western corporate boundary)
and the Mississippi River, then proceeding north along the western corporate boundary of
the City of Elk River to the intersection of said corporate boundary with the BNSF Railroad,
thence east along the centerline of the BNSF Railroad to County Road 44, thence north
along the centerline of County Road 44 to County Road 1, thence south and east along the
centerline of County Road 1 to the intersection of said corporate boundary with the BNSF
Railroad, thence south and east along the centerline of the BNSF Railroad to Main Street,
thence west along the centerline of Main Street to Wright County Road 42 Bridge (also
known as Parrish Avenue), thence south on the Wright County Road 42 Bridge to the
Mississippi River, thence west along the Mississippi River to the point of beginning.
b. Ward 2
All that property within the corporate limits of the City lying within the following described
boundary:
Beginning at the intersection of the Zebulon Street alignment (western corporate boundary)
and the BNSF Railroad, then proceeding north along the western corporate boundary of the
City of Elk River to the intersection of said western corporate boundary and the 229`' Street
Alignment (northern corporate boundary), thence east along the northern corporate
boundary of the City of Elk River to the intersection of said corporate boundary and the
Jarvis Street alignment (eastern corporate boundary), thence south along the eastern
corporate boundary of the City of Elk River to the intersection of said corporate boundary
and County Road 13, thence south and west along the centerline of County Road 13 to the
Northern States Power Company transmission line, thence north and west along the
centerline of the Norther States Power Company transmission line to Trunk Highway 169,
thence north along the centerline of Trunk Highway 169 to County Road 33, thence west

centerline of Vernon Street to Tipton Street, thence south and east along the centerline of
Tipton Street to 195`' Lane, thence east along the centerline of 195 h Lane to Proctor Road,
thence north along the centerline of Proctor Road to County Road 33, thence north and east
along the centerline of County Road 33 to Trunk Highway 169, thence south along the
centerline of Trunk Highway 169 to the Northern States Power Company transmission lines,
thence south and east along the centerline of the Northern States Power Company
transmission lines to County Road 13, thence south and west along the centerline of County
Road 33 to County Road 12, thence west along the centerline of County Road 12 to Trunk
Highway 169, thence south along the centerline of Trunk Highway 169 to the Mississippi

Bridge (also known as Parrish Avenue), thence north along the centerline of the Wright
County Road 42 Bridge to Main Street, thence east along the centerline of Main Street to the
BNSF Railroad, thence west along the centerline of the BNSF Railroad to County Road 1,
thence north along the centerline of County Road 1 to the point of beginning.
d. Ward 4
All that property within the corporate limits of the City lying within the following described
boundary:
Beginning at the intersection of Trunk Highway 169 and the Mississippi River then
proceeding north and east along the centerline of Trunk Highway 169 to Main Street, thence
east along the centerline of Main Street to County Road 13, thence north and east along the
centerline of County Road 13 to the Jarvis Street alignment (eastern corporate boundary),
thence south along the eastern corporate boundary to the Mississippi River, thence north
and west along the Mississippi River to the point of beginning.

SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall be published as provided by law.
SECTION 3. That per Minnesota Statute §205.84, this ordinance shall become effective on August
9, 2022, the date of the Minnesota State Primary Election.
