slle mo'ved out of tlle county (policy states dlat Library Board members are to reside in
Sherburne County). Staff ad'Tertised tIlls position in the Star Ne\vs, on the city's \vebsite, on
ERt\! 12, and the ",\Tacancy \1laS posted at both City Hall and dle Library. Staff had one
application on file from Ivls. Christine HanTey but sIle Ilas indicated that she is unable to
fulfill dle Library Board time commitment at this time due to family obligations. Staff
recei\led one additional application from IvIs. Donna IvIartin of Zimmerman. lVls. IvIartin's
application is attached for Council revie\v.
Per the Board and Commission Policy, 'The CotlJuil }vill revie}}l all applications. Applicants Ivi!! be
interviewed 0' the CiD' Council to JJlake board and COJJ1111ission appoint/llents and reappoint/lients. This
process lv/il be conducted through secret ballot. "I:vls. IVlartin has been contacted and is expected to be
present at the September 19, 2005 City Council meeting to be intervie\ved by the Council.
Action Requested
The Council is requested to intervle\v Donna 1\fartin for tlle Library Board \lacancy. TIle
Council may wish to appoint IvIs. I:vIartin to fill Leslie Anderson's unexpired term until
December 31, 2007 or Council may \vish to continue ad'Tertising for the position.
