Action Requested
Hire, by motion, Joshua Mollan as an Economic Development Intern effective April 20, 2022.
Background/Discussion
The city’s economic development specialist resigned last October. We went to market to fill this position but were
unsuccessful. We were approached by Joshua Mollan regarding his interest in working in local government. Mr.
Mollan received a master’s degree in Public Administration in 2021 and has been exploring opportunities while
working for a realty company.
This internship will last no longer than six months. Mr. Mollan will be paid $19.25 per hour. This is a non-benefit
eligible position. All other terms of this position will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
In lieu of filling the economic development position at this time, we are hiring Mr. Mollan into an intern position
making the funds from the specialist position available to cover the internship. We intend to fill the specialist
position at a later date.
