4.8 SR 05-16-2022 Request for Action To Item Number Mayor and City Council 4.8 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent May 16, 2022 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager Item Description Reviewed by Hire Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector Zack Carlton, Community Development Director Reviewed by Cal Portner, City Administrator Action Requested Approve, by motion, the hiring of Joel Boutin to the position of Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector effective May 17, 2022. Background/Discussion With the upcoming retirement of Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector Denny Anderson, we went to market to fill this position. We received 16 applications and offered interviews to eight candidates. Following second interviews, background and reference checks, we recommend Joel Boutin for the position. Mr. Boutin grew up in the plumbing industry first working for his dad in his plumbing business, eventually owning that business, and then moving on to work as a Master Plumber for B & B Plumbing. In 2021 he became a union plumber with the Local 15 and has worked multiple jobs through the union. Mr. Boutin will start at step A of pay grade 2N. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy. Financial Impact This is a budgeted position.
