Volleyball team.
Approve, by motion, a proclamation designating July 5, 2022, as Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’ Volleyball
Day.
Background/Discussion
The 2022 Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’ High School Volleyball team won their first state championship.
Mayor Dietz is requesting the Council congratulate the team, coaches and manager and recognize July 5, 2022, as
Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’ Volleyball Day.

Proclamation
Designating July 5, 2022, as
Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’ Volleyball Day
in the City of Elk River
WHEREAS, the Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’ High School Volleyball Team finished
their regular season with just one loss; and
WHEREAS, the Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’ Volleyball Team went into the state
tournament seeded eighth of sixteen teams; and
WHEREAS, the team bested the top-seeded Rogers High School Royals in their quarterfinal
match; and
WHEREAS, they advanced to the championship match to avenge their only loss of the season to
the second seed Champlin Park High School Rebels; and
WHEREAS, after a hard fought four-set battle, the Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’
Volleyball Team was crowned State Champions; and
WHEREAS, the team showed tremendous sportsmanship and class on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, the team brought tremendous community pride and a very positive image for the
City of Elk River, St. Michael, and Albertville; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, John J. Dietz, Mayor of Elk River, do
hereby proclaim Tuesday, July 5, 2022, as Elk River-St. Michael-Albertville Boys’ Volleyball Day in
the City of Elk River.
