Background/Discussion
Past practice has been to schedule budget discussions on separate evenings from regular City Council meetings to
focus on the city budget.
Primary Election Canvassing Board Meeting
State law says the meeting must be held on the second or third day after the Primary. The meeting may only be
held on the second day after a primary if the county auditor agrees to review primary voting statistics within a time
that permits the canvass to be conducted on that day. Staff requests the meeting be held on the third day, which
would be Friday, August 12, 2022, in order to have time to process the results and prepare for the canvassing
meeting. Past practice has been to hold the meeting at 8:00 a.m.
General Election Canvassing Board Meeting
State law says the meeting must be 3-10 days after the general election. Past practice has been to canvass the
results the Friday after the election, however, city offices are closed for Veteran’s Day. Other dates available are
Monday, November 14 through Friday, November 18.
