Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Joseph Reak to the position of part-time community service officer effective
July 11, 2022.
Background/Discussion
Joseph Reak has been a police reserve officer for the city since February. His background check is complete, and
he has passed the physical and psychological testing. We recommend Mr. Reak for a part-time community service
officer vacancy.
The part-time Community Service Officer position is intended for students working toward a career in law
enforcement. The length of employment is two years and may be extended one year by the police chief. Mr. Reak
will be starting his law enforcement education at North Hennepin Community College this fall.
This is a leave benefit earning position and Mr. Reak will start at step A of pay grade 6N. All pay and benefits will
be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
