Meeting of the Elk River EDA Beautification Committee
Held at the Elk River City Hall
Monday, June 13, 2022
Members Present: Ryan Hardin, Deb Hjermstad (via Zoom)
Staff Present: Brent O’Neil, Economic Development Director
Joshua Mollan, Economic Development Intern
Due to lack of quorum, no official business occurred. Members and staff in attendance
discussed the following:
Beautification Award
o Past marketing efforts and the possible reuse of the 2021 Beautification Committee
generated flyer. If used, it should be updated with the most recent winner.
o There is a potential to use issued building permits to seek out applicants.
o Committee member will look further into the eligibility of a potential award
nominee.
Potential Beautification Award Policy amendments.
o Application submission formats
Staff suggested the possible switch to online submissions only; the present
members agreed.
o Any changes will be conducted by staff and presented to the committee for feedback
and approval.
Future of Beautification Committee
o Maintaining scop of committee: discussion should continue if the committee should
focus on other aspects of beautification outside of the Beautification Award, while
operating under the purpose of the EDA.
Beautification Committee membership
o Staff requested committee feedback on the required representation of the Chamber
and Master Gardeners Club to being preferred.
