3.1 MFAC DRAFT MINUTES 07-11-2022 Meeting of the Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Held at Furniture and Things Community Event Center Monday, March 14, 2022 Members Present: Chair Williams, Commissioners Mike Cunningham, Greg Loidolt, Jacob Peterson, Kara Walker, Mike Westgaard, Betsy Gulden Members Absent: Jim Hecker, Matt Westgaard Staff Present: Superintendent, Tim Dalton, Assistant Facility Supervisor, Megan Leeseberg, Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hecker 1. Call Meeting to Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission was called to order at 6:31 p.m. by Chair Williams. 2. Consider Agenda Chair Williams added Item 6.1 Serrano Brothers Café Update. Moved by Commissioner Loidolt and seconded by Commissioner Peterson to approve the March 14, 2022, Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Agenda with the addition to add Item 6.1. Motion carried 7-0. 3.1 Consider 12/02/2021 Regular Meeting Minutes Moved by Commissioner Cunningham and seconded by Commissioner Mike Westgaard to approve the following December 2, 2021, Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Minutes. Motion carried 7-0. 3.2 Consider 01/10/2022 Regular Meeting Minutes Moved by Commissioner Walker and seconded by Commissioner Peterson to approve the following January 10, 2022, Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Minutes. Motion carried 7-0. 4. Election of Chair and Vice Chair Moved by Chair Williams and seconded by Commissioner Cunningham to elect Commissioner Peterson as Vice Chair of Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission. Motion carried 7-0. Moved by Commissioner Cunningham and seconded by Commissioner Mike Westgaard to elect Commissioner Williams as Chair of Multipurpose Facility Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Minutes Page 2 March 14, 2022 ----------------------------- Advisory Commission. Motion carried 7-0. 5. Open Forum No one spoke at the open forum. 6.1 Serrano Brothers Café Update Marco Serrano gave an update about the Serrano Brothers Café located on the second floor of the Furniture and Things Community Event Center. Serrano spoke on how their business wants to bring in larger events for the community. Some of those events being: boat shows, RV shows, wedding expos, fashion shows, beer show, etc to generate revenue for his business and the Furniture and Things Community Event Center. Serrano wants to make this building known for its events and not just ice. 7.1 Branding Sub Committee Update Mr. Dalton shared his report. Commissioner Peterson asked if the group was going to get the list that was promised to the public. Mr. Dalton responded that Commissioner Matt Westgaard was in the process of getting it for them. 8.1 Tier 3 Junior Hockey Team Mr. Dalton shared his report. Chic Pojar presented plans for MN Squatch, Tier III Junior Hockey Team to be housed at the FTCenter for the 2022-23 season. Moved by Chair Williams and seconded by Vice Chair Peterson to continue to pursue agreement to house and discuss facility updates necessary to accommodate the MN Squatch Tier III Junior Hockey Team at the Furniture and Things Community Event Center. Motion carried 7-0. 9. Superintendent Updates Mr. Dalton an update of what has been going on with the FTCenter.  Significant pay increases went into effect for Zamboni Driver and Operation Assistant positions  Beverage machine vandalism Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Minutes Page 3 March 14, 2022 -----------------------------  Kiser Open House/Open Skate  Spectrum High School Hockey Schedule  Violation notices to cars in the FTCenter parking spaces  Seranno Brothers Café opened  Elk River Girl’s High School Quarterfinal Game  City Council discussed negative and threatening behavior happening at the FTCenter  Negative Facebook posts  Elk River Boy’s Quarterfinal Game  Food complaints about the exclusive food services provided  Section 5A Boys Hockey Section Final  Section 5AA Boys Hockey Section Final  Jaremko begins temporary use of fieldhouse training area  Details getting worked out for the buildout in the lease area  Naming Rights Committee formed  Girl’s High School Lacrosse player caught entering fieldhouse by jumping  VFW State Bantam Tournament Banquet  VFW State Bantam Tournament 10. Announcements Chair Williams announced that at a future meeting we will be talking about the allocation and priority for the fieldhouse users and setting a standard. 11.
