6.1e ERMUSR 07-12-2022i Ell River --- IVlunicipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Tom Sagstetter — Conservation & Key Accounts Manager MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: July 12, 2022 6.1e SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • In the last 30 days, the level two charger located downtown had 30 sessions and provided customers with 249 kWh. The level two charger located in the parking lot in front of the ERMU main office has been repaired and had 18 sessions and provided customers with 122 kWh. The DC fast charger at the Coborn's fuel station needs a modem upgrade to allow for connection to the network. ERMU staff is exploring options for the entire charger's replacement but will be purchasing the modem to extend service through March of 2023. • Staff is soliciting bids from EV Charging vendors for two EV chargers. The DC fast charger at Coborn's will no longer be supported by ChargePoint starting in April of 2023 and will have to be replaced or removed. The second cost estimate is for a level two charger that would be located at the new field services building in the customer parking lot. • Currently there are 16 active residential solar PV projects under review or construction in the ERMU service territory. The one commercial solar installation is not active currently. Staff provided the contractor with MN Statutes, Section 216B.37-44 detailing defined service territories for electric service and has not heard anything back from the contractor or the property owner. • Staff continues to discuss future options for the energy generation facility at the Elk River Landfill; all contracts end as of October 31, 2022. • Staff participated in a workgroup hosted by the MN Division of Energy Resources (MN DER). The purpose was to discuss the methodologies for determining the cost effectiveness of conservation improvement programs for the investor-owned utilities. Their program information must be submitted to the Public Utilities Commission in 2024. The customer-owned utilities (cooperatives and municipals) will file in August under different guidelines that are still being determined by the MN DER. Page 1 of 1 '
