Elk River Public Library Board
The Library Board serves in an advisory capacity to City of Elk River for issues tzlated to the Elk Diver Public T sbrary grounds, thepbyrical building
and interior fixtures. The city is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all work to be completed
updjwd for October 2021

Zone 1 Entrance; butterfly garden; windmill, prairie grass; rain garden in
parking lot, planter boxes for Junior Master Gardeners summer
gardening program
Zone 2 Front door, front garden, concrete pathways, patio, flag
turnaround
Zone 3 Rain garden, book drop turnaround, employee parking lot; being
a good neighbor
Zone 4 Being a good neighbor, grass & rock areas
Zone 5 Rain garden, interior and exterior building maintenance, interior
furniture, and shelving
■ Parking lot rain garden has half of the
new plants in. 2nd half of plants will be
put in this fall.
■ Butterfly garden was weeded by various
board members and volunteers.
■ Planter boxes eventually installed on
northeast side of building facing lake.
Delayed in 2021 due to covid-19
restrictions. Tim S. and Karen O. working
on together.
■ Justin working with Gary on bathroom
door lock, entry way wall piece that has
fallen.
■ No issues
■ Justin working on capping brick wall
by garbage's. No drainage issues
anymore on back side of building and
through door.
■ All lights were updated with LED lighting
per Justin. Robbie will put in
maintenance request on bug light that is
out, upholstery cleaning of bench in teen
area
CIP ITEMS IN PROCESS
PRIORITY CIP ITEMS
1. Ten mesh back computer chairs. Five for the public and five for staff area.
2. Replace or re -upholster the chairs by the fireplace.
3. Replace the rug in the fiction area.
4. Move one of the upholstered chairs in the children's area into the board book area and consider purchasing
another or reupholstering.
5. Cork floor in teen area may eventually need to be replaced but not a hazard now. Will be a building
maintenance issue for the Public Work s Director in the future.
6. Shelving to be replaced if needed if it can't be braced
NOTE: At such time the board votes for a new
CIP ITEMS IDENTIFIED BUT NOT RANKED FOR PRIORITY 0 item or for an improvement, the Board takes
it to Robbie Schake, Robbie takes it to Michael
Hecker and Michael Hecker forwards to the
appropriate city staff for remediation or
recommendation.
