Action Requested
Discussion of potential trail extensions from The Villas at Fillmore plat.
Recommend, by motion, trail extensions from The Villas at Fillmore be paid for with park dedication monies due
to the city by the developer.
Background/Discussion
Last month the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed The Villas at Fillmore plat and recommended park
dedication to be paid at the applicable rate for the final number of dwelling units.
During the City Council review the developer approached the city to see if the Parks and Recreation Commission
might be interested in constructing two trail extensions to complete a trail loop as shown in the trail master plan.
The developer proposed paying for the off-site improvements with park dedication monies.
The proposal will provide a loop, connecting the existing neighborhoods to the north and south, along Fillmore,
through the proposed subdivision. Alternatively, the developer would install a trail with dead-ends to the north
and south leaving no real connectivity to the newly installed infrastructure.
Financial Impact
Total due in park dedication will be about $61,314. The engineers estimate $42,000 for the two proposed trails
extensions to streets and connections to existing sidewalks.
