This report is a monthly highlight of department activities related to recent collaborations, strategic
planning, staff changes/developments, and park operations.
Orono Park
The post holes for the Orono Park Pickleball courts were completed on Friday, September 2. The fencing
was installed a few weeks earlier. The final acrylic surfacing and stripping should be complete this week.
The Orono Park splash pad will be shut off by September 30th annually. Staff will observe weather
forecasts in the final weeks leading up to this date with the possibility to winterize early, if needed. If
possible, the bathroom functionality will extend to October 15 at the latest.
The skate park lights should be installed by mid-October.
YAC
Ebert informed us the only items left on the YAC Concessions Building punch list is patch work and
painting. Their only painter got COVID and is behind in his work. We will continue to follow up with
them to get this done.
Rivers Edge Commons Park Dock
The Rivers Edge Commons Park Dock Dedication will be at 4:30 p.m., Monday, September 26. A plaque
honoring the memory of Dallas Carlson (Chris’s Father) will be unveiled at the event. Chris plans to have
family members attend. Also in attendance will be Craig Murphy and Shannon Tatro. City Council and
Parks Commissioners are encouraged to attend.
Trott Brook Tennis and Basketball Courts
The new tennis courts have been a huge hit under the new lights.
October Parks Commission Meeting is First Wednesday in October
A reminder the 2022 October Parks Commission regular meeting is October 5, 2022.
