DISCUSSION:
The Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association Summer Conference was held at Maddens’
Resort in Brainerd, MN, August 22-24. Attendees this year were Commissioners John Dietz,
Mary Stewart, Al Nadeau, and Paul Bell, along with staff members Theresa Slominski, Mark
Hanson, Chris Kerzman, Melissa Karpinski, and Sara Youngs. The theme this year was
“Reimagining Municipal Utilities.” I’d like to have discussion on the takeaways from the
conference that can benefit ERMU and its customers. What did we learn? What was surprising?
What could we be doing differently? What are we doing well?
