SUBJECT:
Staff Update

DISCUSSION:
Inserts for the August billings include information on the new LED Bulb Program and an
Understanding Your Bill flyer. The Customer Service Department and Communications
Department worked with NISC to create and brand the second phase of our bill
redesign. The Understanding Your Bill flyer helps explain the changes to the bill.
Attached are the two bill inserts.
July and August social media posts will feature a variety of topics including: closing the
door on energy waste, whats your energy style pop quiz, National Safe Digging Day, and
ERMUs Budget Billing Program. A notice will also be posted regarding the August
commission meeting date and change of meeting location. In addition to the scheduled
posts, time-sensitive messaging is posted as needed; a good example of this is the water
main break that occurred the first week of August. Our social media platforms are a
valuable tool for quickly relaying important information to the community.
This months featured blog and social media post ERMU FAQ: Summer Energy Usage.
Over the past month, our Customer Service Representatives and Conservation & Key
Accounts Manager have received a large volume of calls from customers concerned
about their high bills. In addition to the one-on-one conversations we have with our
customers regarding spikes in usage, we are always looking for ways to educate our
customers about this topic. Our Communications Coordinator worked with the
Customer Service Department to come up with a list of the most frequently asked
questions, and put together a very informative blog to help our customers understand
why their bill fluctuates in the summer months, and what they can do to conserve
energy. A link to the blog is listed below.
The ERMU website overhaul initiative continues to progress as planned. We are nearing
the end of stage 3 of the web development process which is the programming stage.
The next stage will be content and search engine optimization (SEO) which typically
