DISCUSSION:
• We had our open enrollment meetings on November 5, 2019.To accommodate everyone we
held two meetings, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This is where employees have
the opportunity to change coverage for their insurances, sign up for annual Flexible Spending
Account participation, as well as learn about new resources available to help them in their
wellness efforts. Staff has until the end of November to submit their 2020 elections.
• Our accountants attended Abdo, Eick, and Meyers' annual Governmental Standards Updates
and Best Practices Seminar in Plymouth, MN on Thursday, November 7, 2019. It is usually a very
beneficial seminar for information on upcoming Government Accounting Standards Board
(GASB) impacts and a great opportunity to meet with our auditors outside of the audit itself.
• Troy and I met with our auditors on Wednesday, November 6 for a mid-year listening meeting.
They do this annually to touch base and evaluate their firm's customer service.
• The new Finance Manager position was posted internally on Monday, November 4, and will
close at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 8.
• The Wellness Committee hosted a bowling event in Monticello to encourage employees to
"move and de-stress" on October 29. It was a good event for employees to get together and
socialize and exercise a bit too.
• The Financial Reserves and Investment Committee meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m. on
November 12, 2019, immediately before the Commission meeting. A verbal update will be
provided at the Commission meeting.
