6.1a1 EMRUSR 10-11-2022UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO:FROM: ERMU Commission Mark Hanson –Deputy General Manager HEMEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: October 11, 20226.1a1 SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: Wrapping up the field services building expansion project has taken quite a bit of time as we’ve worked through scheduling concerns associated with moving most of our equipment and vehiclesinto the new building.A scan completed a couple of weeks ago suggestssome of the concrete floor may need to be replaced. We are hesitant to move our equipment and vehicles until the specific locations and a repair plan have been identified. The contractor would like us to move out of the current pole barn storage buildings as soon as possible. Once we’re out, the buildings will be razed and the area graded, landscaped, and paved. I was able to spend some time with Scott Thoreson as we drove around to several active project sites to learn more about our distribution system and the various types of install, repair, and replacement efforts our impressive line staff undertake every day. I’ve been able to spend time reviewing our water system in relation to a recently completed study by WSB to review potential expansion into planned northwest and northeast development areas expected to occur by 2040. This is a sizeable expansion effort that if fully developed would take our service delivery area from roughly 8,000 acres to 13,000 acres. Similarly, I’ve been able to get involved with the renewal of our Wellhead Protection Plan. These plans are renewed every 10 years and serve to identify potential threats to our water system as well as encourage water conservation efforts. I continue to meet with our management staff to gather feedback on any organizational or policy-related changes they’d like to see happen in the near future. ______________________________________________________________________________ Page 1 of 1 95
