DISCUSSION:
• There are two bill inserts being sent in November. The first going to all accounts is the
Customer Privacy Notice which is required to be sent out annually and explains how we
collect, share, and protect personal information. In addition, it is the policy of ERMU to
comply with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act pertaining to government
data, which includes customer data. Our commercial customers will also receive a
promotional flyer about the Clean Energy Choice for Business program. Both inserts are
attached.
• Socia media posts for the month cover topics such as notices for the Cold Weather Rule,
the Lake Orono Dam inspection, and the office closure for Veterans Day. We also
highlighted Public Power Week and Customer Service Week in October.
• The featured social media post this month shares ERMU crews participating in the Day
of the Dozers at ERX. This annual event is coordinated by Children's Minnesota and
raised $82,000!
• The communications & administrative coordinator will be attending the American Public
Power Association's Customer Connection Conference in Minneapolis, November 13-16.
This is a terrific opportunity to connect with the highly specialized group of public
utilities communications staff.
• In addition to coordinating safety trainings for 2023, administration staff has been
working on strategic plan initiatives including a communications plan for the
Conservation Improvement Program and Clean Energy Choice, displays for the office,
and training policy.
• The executive administrative manager also participated in the Elk River High School
Mock Interview Day where every junior gets a chance to practice career skills. This is
always a well -coordinated event, and the students do an excellent job!

• Communications staff is developing a flyer for a joint effort with the City's Economic
Development Authority and Tri-CAP to promote the loans and programs available to
individuals looking to do home rehabilitations. For ERMU this creates a chance to
connect with customers who can benefit from energy efficiency improvements.
• The communications coordinator has begun training on Adobe InDesign, the software
we use to create flyers and bill inserts. The training comes from ed2go.com, an online
training solution that offers cost-effective training on the learner's schedule.
We had a lot of fun at the Downtown Elk River Trick or Treat Event on October 28. There
was staff from administration, communications, conservation, customer service, and the
electric departments helping out, and we needed everyone to make this very well
attended event the tremendous success it was. Photos are attached.
