A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River of appreciation to Peter K. Beck, City
Attorney, for his more than 40 years of service to the City of Elk River
WHEREAS, Peter K. Beck graduated from The George Washington School of Law and soon began
practicing at Larkin Hoffman; and
WHEREAS, Larkin Hoffman was chosen to serve the City of Elk River following the city annexation of Elk
River Township; and
WHEREAS, Peter K. Beck specialized in land use, environmental and municipal law and was selected to
Super Lawyers in 1994, 1997, and 2012 - 2022 ; and
WHEREAS, Counselor Beck assuredly guided a multitude of elected officials and city staff with sage legal
advice through the growth, redevelopment, and ever -changing state statute and federal law changes; and
'WHEREAS, Counselor Beck's institutional knowledge and history will be irreplaceable as he has attended
hundreds of City Council meetings, crafted and reviewed city ordinances, resolutions, agreements, and licenses;
and
WHEREAS, Peter effectively navigated the city through legal challenges successfully avoiding litigation with
sound solutions; and
WHEREAS, Peter K. Beck will be retiring from the City of Elk River on December 31, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Peter's work over the past forty plus years has left an indelible mark on the community and the
people he served, he will be missed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River, Minnesota, as
follows: the city expresses its deep gratitude and appreciation to Peter K. Beck for his more than 40 years of
counsel and advice to the City of Elk River and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
Passed and adopted this 21st day of November 2022.
