DISCUSSION:
• Installed seven new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary
line once the customer requests service.
• Finished installing the 500 MCM underground wire to its destination point in Otsego for
the new Feeder 44. Crews will start again in the spring with 500 MCM wire installation
from Station 14 in Elk River to near the Parrish Avenue bridge. Along with the wire
install, crews will terminate wire and set switchgear boxes. This new feeder to Otsego
will add capacity needed for future Otsego growth.
• Installed primary wire and two three phase transformers for the two new apartments
buildings being constructed at the Delta Apartment Complex.
• Installed 950 feet of primary wire along with a transformer for a new residence on 193rd
Avenue in Elk River.
• Line crews helped the substation tech test and install new programming on the four
feeder reclosers at the Otsego Substation.
• Joe Schmidt from Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) was hereon
November 28 and presented on respiratory hazards and hand safety.
• Jay Reading from MMUA was hereon November 22 for a quarterly Job Training & Safety
training, covering power quality and outage management.
• We were happy to take delivery of 20 single phase transformers last week. Single phase
transformers have some of the longest lead times of any of the material we are
currently seeking.
• Staff finished moving material and equipment from the old line shop into the new
facility. The new workshops, mechanics bay, and inventory area are being worked on
and outfitted as crews get a chance.
• Replaced a Highway 10 median light that was struck by a vehicle. MnDOT assisted with
traffic control to create a safe work zone. We repaired the base and set the new pole.
• Working on some preliminary planning for 2023 power needs at the Cargill campus. This
includes a dairy barn and two irrigation pivots.
