DISCUSSION:
• In November, the locators processed 209 locate tickets. These consisted of 161 normal
tickets, 35 updated tickets, 4 cancellations, 2 meets, 3 non -excavation, 1 correction, and
3 boundary surveys. This resulted in a 51.4% decrease in tickets from the previous
month and an 45.7% decrease from the prior November.
• Electrical technicians completed 240 service order tasks, updated the power bill,
addressed customer meter issues and any off-peak concerns.
• On November 29, staff ran generators #1, #2 & #4 without incident. Engine #3 was
turned over but not ran. The repair of the replacement exhaust bellow for Engine #4 has
been completed and it was installed just in time for the November run.
• Mapping department continues to work on GIS updates, GPSing splices and assets. Most
of the ESRI GIS software along with other required software has been upgraded and
installed on the new GIS server. Account links and software configuration need to be
completed before we can import the electric and water databases. The re-creation of
the portal website and configuration for user access will be the first part, followed by
the re-creation of maps to publish for users to view and use. This process takes time as
there are many details to work through for each customized map and dashboard.
• Staff completed the testing of Otsego's recloser controls for all the feeders and updated
them with their new configurations. They have also been busy with moving into the new
field services building and setting up their workspaces.
• During the week of November 14, 1 attended the Smart Utility Summit in Galveston,
Texas where I learned about a wide range of smart -grid technology topics such as non-
conductive modular optical sensors that provide highly accurate voltage & current data
with an accuracy of +/- 0.5%. This is accomplished by measuring the refraction of light
that is altered by an electromagnetic field. I also met with SENSUS staff to discuss
Advanced Metering Infrastructure.
