Per cityT code and state law, the Council is required to appoint an acting mayTor. The acting ma�Tor performs the
duties of ma�Tor during the disabilityT or absence of the mayTor, or if there is a vacancyT in the office.
rllthough all CouncilmembeYs are eligible for this appointment at any time, past pYactice has been a rotation of
Wards 4-1-3-2, which coYresponds with the election teYms and allows foY a year of experience for new
Councilmembers before assuming the role.
