06-08-1920 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL JUNE 8, 1920 Regular meeting of the Village council was held in the offices of the Elk River Lumber Co on th Tuesday June 8 1920. Members present J.H. Virgin, President, Bert Carr, Trustee, D.W. Longfellow, Trustee, M.P. Williams, Clerk Meeting was called to order by the President at 8:15 P.M. There was a discussion regarding what to do about the sidewalk along the north side of the building. Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and seconded by Bert Carr in view of the fact that we were unable to get other bids for building the pump house, according to plans and specifications of the engineer within a specified time, and that the construction of the pumphouse is immediately needed and the contract be awarded to the Phelps Drake Co according to their proposal. There was a discussion regarding the proposal of Phelps Drake Co in building the pumphouse. J.H. Virgin had consulted with County attorney Geo Tyler that in view of the fact it would be advisable to put up said building. The clerk was instructed to write W.C. Buck to draw up contract according to specifications to build pump house. Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and seconded by Bert Carr that Wm Giff be paid a salary of st $75.00 per month beginning June 1, 1920. Motion voted on and passed by council. It was moved by the Council that the clerk be instructed to take the matter up with county attorney regarding the finances with Wells Durkey and Co. Motion made by D.W.
