DECEMBER 14, 1920
Regular meeting of the Village Council was held in the offices of the Elk River Lumber Co on Dec
14, 1920.
Members present J.H. Virgin, President, Chas Selhauer, Bert Carr, Trustee, M.P. Williams, Clerk
Meeting called to order by the president at 8:15 p.m.
Minutes of last meeting was read and approved.
The matter was brought up regarding who should be employed by the Village in running the motor
in the pump house. The council upon investigation find that there is nobody in the village who at
present capable of running motor and pump except J.H. Virgin Pres of the Council as he had spent
considerable time helping putting in pump and motor while it was installed and became familiar with
its operation. It was therefore the desire of the council that Mr. Virgin accept the job temporarily
taking care of motor and pump to see that it does not freeze. Mr. Virgin states he would gladly teach
anyone who might be a good man for the job.
Therefore a motion was made by Chas Selhauer and seconded by Bert Carr that J.H. Virgin be
employed temporarily taking care of village pump and motor in pump house and that he be given a
compensation of $1.00 per day from time he started to take care of same.
