VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL
MAY 10, 1921
Regular meeting of the Village Council held in the office of the Elk River Lumber Co May 10, 1921.
Members present J.H. Virgin, President, Bert Carr, D.W. Longfellow, Trustees, and M.P. Williams
Clerk
Meeting called to order by the Pres. at 8:00 p.m.
Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
Wm Norval was present as a visitor.
Mr. Albert Jongevaard (and Lee Bishop) was present representing the Elk River Fire Dept in regard
to getting enough money to send delegates to the Fire Convention at International Falls in June.
No amount was decided upon and the council did not feel they would send any on this year.
Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and second Bert Carr that the Village buy 18 chairs and one
stensil \[sic\] for the band. Mr. Virgin to buy the chairs.
Motion accepted and passed by the council.
Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and second Chas Selhauer that J.H. Virgin and Bert Carr be
appointed as road committee.
Motion accepted and passed by the council.
Motion made by Chas Selhauer and second D.W. Longfellow that the village repair up street
crossing on Main Street between Main and Park Street.
Motion accepted and passed by the Council.
Motion made by Chas Selhauer and second D.W. Longfellow that the request of Mrs. Shamore to
resign from the Library Board be granted.
Motion accepted and passed by the Council.
Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and second Bert Carr that we purchase the piece of land
described in deed now on file with the clerk for $200.00 to used as street.
Motion accepted and passed by the council.
Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and second Bert Carr the clerk have the deed and abstract
examined by the attorney at to the title of property bought of Mrs. Ingersoll and if found
satisfactorily a warrant be issued for same.
Motion accepted and passed by the council.
