VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 1, 1923
A Special Meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Monday Oct 1, 1923.
Present – C.E. Brown, Pres, Geo Cornelius, B.E. Fournier, Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk.
Meeting was called to order by the Pres at 8 o’clock P.M.
Minutes of last meeting read and approved.
The bond of Mr. Thomas Vill Treas was presented and on motion accepted and placed on file.
The following resolution was presented and adopted by unanimous consent.
Resolution:
That the sum of one thousand dollars be borrowed from the Poor Fund and placed to the credit of
the General Fund for the purpose of paying the Frontage Tax for water main laid around Parks of
the Village.
After some discussion in regard to the amount of tax to be raised to finance the Village the coming
year the following resolution was offered and adopted by a unanimous vote.
Resolved:
That the following sums be raised by taxation of the real and personal property of the Village of Elk
River to meet the necessary expenses for the year 1924.
For Revenue Fund 8000.00 for Special or sinking fund
For Music Fund 500.00 to pay interest on bonds 4000.00
For Poor Fund 400.00 Library Fund 400.00
Total $13,300.00
The following resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote.
Resolved:
That the sum of $50.00 dollars be donated the Fire Department to aid in equipping their new hose
cart, the clerk was instructed to draw an order on the General Fund for same.
