VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 11, 1924
A Special Meeting of the village council was held at the Library Room on Monday Feb 11, 1924.
Present – C.E. Brown Pres, B.E. Fournier and Geo Cornelius Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk
Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M.
The minutes of the last meeting read and approved.
A petition was presented to the Council signed by thirty resident property owners, asking for the
vacation of a certain highway described as follows: to wit
Beginning at the Railroad crossing on Princeton street in the Village of Elk River and running
northerly and Northeasterly through the Village of Elk River Township of Elk River, Township of
Livonia, Village of Lake Fremont, Township of Baldwin, and known ad the Nickerson and Priceton
Road.
The Petitioners ask the vacation of this road the following reason. At the present time this road is
known as State Road No. 18. In building this road the state did not follow the same course as that of
the old road it being necessary to avoid curves and other hinderances, to abandon certain parts of
the old road as described in this petition. Therefore they ask the vacation of the old road and land
returned to the original owners.
The following Resolution was presented and adopted by the unanimous vote of the council that the
petition be granted as requested and the road named in said petition be vacated.
The following bills were presented and on motion allowed and clerk ordered to issue warrants for
same.
