04-04-1927 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL APRIL 4, 1927 The regular monthly meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library room on Monday, April 4, 1927 Present – Roland K. Wilson, Pres, George Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, EE Scott, Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk Visitors – Joseph Lane Minneapolis, Minn. James Robinette Minneapolis, Minn Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8 o’clock PM W.M. Hamlet presented a petition signed by 13 business men asking the council to enact an ordinance in regard to people selling goods or merchandise from any vehicle on the streets of Elk River without a license therefor. After some discussion in regard to the legality of such an ordinance the council postponed action in regard to the matter until further investigation. Joseph Lane, Minneapolis, Minn presented plans of a tank flush valve to clean the sediment from tanks without draining tank. Cost of same to be $250.00 installed. This proposition looked very good to the council. No action was taken. James Robinette, Tank painter, gave an estimate for re-painting the water tank it being 3 years since painting 2 coats. Cost of labor only to be $200.00 for one coat. No action was taken. Mr. Fred Vassar, Ice Dealer, asked for some repair work on the street leading to his place of business. Referred to com. On streets and bridges. This being the first meeting of the newly elected Council, the same Council being reelected, the President announced that the same committee would be re-appointed for the ensuring year. On motion William Gliff was re-appointed Village Marshal and Pumper. Salary to be $75.00 per month as Marshal and $35.00 as pumper. Clerk instructed to draw his order for $110.00 each month. The clerk was also instructed to draw warrants each month for all salaries and electric power and light bills. The bond of Eugene Bryan elected judge of the peace was presented and accepted. Clements street work 32.50 The Barrett Co. 5 bbls. Tarvia 60.75 E.R. Power and Light Co repairs 4.40 Star News printing statement and proceedings 86.45 Caley Hardware goods for street and fire barn 21.14 Charles Roggatz coal for Mrs. Decker 7.22 Davis Bros goods for Mrs. Dawson 20.74 Davis Bros goods for Village Election .50 Eklund Drug Co medicine for Alex Micheau 12.13 Total 356.64 No further business appearing, meeting adjourned.
