VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL
MAY 7, 1928
The Regular Meting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Monday, May 7, 1928.
Present – Thos E. Beck, President, Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees. W.F.
Chadbourne, Clerk
Visitors – Mrs. Fred Greupner, Miss Susan Dare and Mr. Charles Bade
Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M.
The Community Club represented by Mrs. Fred Greupner and Miss Susan Dare requested that the
Council contribute the sum of $25.00 towards the upkeep of the park at or near the M.E. Church.
On motion their request was granted and $25.00 was taken from the General Fund for that purpose.
Mr. Charles Bade called the attention of the council in regard to the inadequate street lighting on
Princeton Street and asked the Council to take notice of the same with a view of locating another
street light. The Council did visit the place named and decided to install another light.
In regard to placing a culvert across the street at upper town near Mr. Mouldenhauers place, Mr.
Clements, Street Commissioner was authorized to use his judgement as to the kind of tiling to put
in.
In the question of repairing Main Street, after some discussion in regard to the manner of operation
it was finally decided to have the Street Commissioner Clements visit Hopkins and ascertain the cost
of re-surfacing the whole street and report to the Council at once.
It was brought before the Council that Mr. Fred Shultz was in needy circumstances and needed
immediate help. On motion Geo Cornelius was instructed to find out in regard to it and give him
what present need required.
